I need Apps to run Automatically, is this possible?

If you are using the Magic Carpet in a children's play centre, hospital reception area or any other site requiring unattended automated use, this is possible to setup using Playlists and the system's Scheduler feature.

Playlists are very similar to Collections in that they are essentially groups of apps. As with Collections you only need drag apps from the all apps section at the bottom into your Playlist.

This can be a very handy tool and is easily setup, simply follow the step by step instructions below;

First, setup a Playlist

To create a new Playlist click the pink New Playlist button on the top right of the software. Here you can name your Playlist, provide a description and set the run status and repeat options.

Click Save to begin adding your apps.

Once your playlist is created, it will appear in the same way as a collection. Simply drag and drop apps into it using the same method.

When you have added apps to your Playlist, enter the Playlist so you can set timings and arrange the order of your apps. Click the move handles (next to the delete action) to move apps up and down in the playlist.

Alter the duration that each app plays for by clicking on the runtime numerical field. This will determine the timeframe that each app runs for before moving on to the next app in the list.

When the Playlist has been arranged to your requirements you can select the Playlist in the Schedule. See following page for Schedule.

Schedules allow you to select and define auto play Playlists that will run at certain times throughout the week. The clock is running 24/7 and can run continuously if required*.

To create a schedule simply click or touch the rough time of day you would like your Playlist to begin. This will open up the Schedule Edit Window, where you can define the status and duration in hours and minutes.

Schedule Edit Window

Select the playlist you wish to schedule from the Playlist drop down menu.

Select Active from the Status drop down menu.

Choose the times you wish the playlist to run.

For example; if you wish the playlist to run at 08:30am, select 08 from the Start Time left drop down menu, and 30 from the Start Time right dropdown section. Choose a time for the playlist to automatically stop running in the lower drop down menus.

Once you have completed the steps above, you have a basic scheduled Playlist.

However, it is necessary to let the software know you wish to activate it. This is done by checking the Schedule Active box as shown here;

Then, it is necessary to reload the Scheduler to invoke the changes.

To do this, you must call up the menu options. This is done by pressing the ESC key. This brings up the Tool Bar at the top of the screen.

From the File menu item, select Reload Schedule. Your playlist is now fully active.

If you are preparing a scheduled playlist for a future session, you may skip the Reload process as this is automatically done when the system is restarted.

*Standard supplied projector is not suited to run 24/7. This kind of use will require a more robust installation class projector.

Now you know everything there is to know about the Magic Carpet. Relax. You can now rest in your new found expert knowledge. What? Oh right! It's still on and you have no idea how to turn it off.
